X% of Y = (X ÷ 100) × Y. X is what % of Y = (X ÷ Y) × 100. % change = ((new − old) ÷ old) × 100.

Frequently asked questions
What’s the difference between percentage change and percentage points? Percentage change is relative to the starting value; percentage points are the plain difference between two percentages (e.g. 5% to 7% is a 2 percentage-point rise, but a 40% increase).
How do I calculate a discount? Use “X% of Y” to find the amount off, then subtract it from the original price.
